ABOUT US                                                                      How it all Began

As a registered charitable organization we receive tax-deductable donations to help us with funding. We rely on the sale of straw, fundraising, membership, animal boarding/surrender/adoption fees to assist us with the funding needed to run the shelter.

Donations are a great way to assist the shelter in funding for building maintenance and repairs. We have many donation jars at various stores and hotels around town and every penny counts.

HSD Objectives:

• To work for the prevention of cruelty to animals.
• To provide shelter to unwanted animals.
• To foster a compassionate atmosphere for animals.
• To promote humane and responsible pet ownership.

• We are always in need of dog and cat food.
• Toys and treats
• Cat litter
• Blankets
• Leashes
• Office supplies, such as paper, staples, pens, tape etc.
• And of course money donations or cheques are always welcome!

Volunteer Opportunities:

HSD welcomes any volunteer help we can get, whether it's feed and care of animals, dog walking or assisting us with fundraising events. All help that we can get from the public to assist HSD in raising awareness is greatly appreciated.
